December 2009
I've added a new photo gallery from the Wildcliff Nature Reserve in the Langeberg Range of South Africa.
This gallery showcases the beaufitul "fynbos" ecosystem there. As in all other galleries all flowers are wild. These photos were taken in a very remote location that few people have ever seen. See the Africa gallery for the photos.

December 2009
I've been documenting remnant forests, wetlands, and prairies in suburban Maryland.

November 2009
I've added about 700 new photographs to the galleries, featuring all new galleries from Oregon, South Africa, and Peru. I have also added new photos to most of the existing galleries.

October 2009
I've been working on creating interactive maps for conservation groups on the East and West coasts.

Summer 2009
I documented family farms and natural areas in the Catskills of New York State for the Open Space Institute in NYC, and worked on a variety of mapping and aerial photo projects for different conservation groups.

Fall 2008 to Spring 2009
I documented critically endangered Chacma Baboons on the Cape Peninsula of South Africa, in partnership with Baboon Matters, the principal NGO in the region. I also documented the Wildcliff Nature Reserve, near Heidelberg, South Africa.

Spring and Summer 2008
I was in Peru for four months, carrying out independent work in the Andes and shooting for the World Wildlife Fund AREAS Project in the headwaters of the Amazon on the Tambopata River.

Winter 2008
I worked in the Las Nubes Rainforest Reserve in Costa Rica for York University, Ontario, Canada. The photos, in combination with my Las Nubes photos from 2003/2004, will be the subject of my second book, to be published by York University.

After 12 years in
Oregon, I moved to where I grew up in Maryland.

I documented natural areas in New York State for the Open Space Institute.

Summer 2007
I worked in the Klamath National Wildlife Refuges in Oregon and California. The Klamath is the largest natural wetland West of the Mississippi, and is an important area for birds.

Spring 2007
I worked for the Cascadia Wildlands Project on the Lost Coast near Cordova, Alaska photographing remote wilderness areas that have been opened to logging in recent years.

Winter & Spring 2006
I worked in the Klamath National Wildlife Refuges in Oregon and California.

Summer 2005
I was in Costa Rica photographing the Monteverde Preserve for the Tropical Science Center for of a coffee table book about the Preserve.

Winter 2004/2005
I spent the winter in Costa Rica photographing the Las Nubes and Los Cusingos Reserves for the The Fisher Fund for Neotropical Conservation and the Tropical Science Center.

Summer 2004
I documented fire issues for the National Park Service in Yosemite NP.

Fall 2003
I spent November in Peru traveling around the country and taking photographs, including a spectacular week-long backpacking trip high in the Andes among 20,000 foot peaks.

Summer 2003
I worked in the Great Bear Rainforest on the mid-coast of British Columbia taking photographs and doing web design for Forest Action Network in Bella Coola.

Summer 2003
I worked in the Monteverde Preserve in Costa Rica. This was my second trip to Monteverde, the first was as a volunteer in 1999.

Before 2003
I worked on forest and wildlife conservation issues in a variety of locations including California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, and Costa Rica. I also traveled throughout Central America from Costa Rica to Guatemala, and spent one month working to support Navajo and Hopi families on the Hopi Reservation in Arizona.
